Our Story

Oishii is run by owner-chef Dennis and owner-operator Brianna, and their partners from where they all began—at Typhoon Asian Fusion Bistro in Delaware, Ohio. The couple both started working at Typhoon within the same week, and truly felt that spark at first sight. It was even discovered that they share the same birthday… and year!

Since then, the two have grown together and taken flight. Chef Dennis single-handedly raised sales at Typhoon by at least 10% in his first year, while Brianna became the highest-earning server.

It’s been Chef Dennis’ dream to open his own restaurant—and when we saw that Jeni’s Ice Cream in Powell went vacant, we knew it was the perfect opportunity for us to start growing our potential.

Chef Dennis is excited to pursue his own menu for the first time, bringing New York City sushi standards to Ohio. He is also bringing his family from New York, who all have experience in Japanese kitchens in the city. Look out for happy-go-lucky Simon who will be right beside at the sushi bar!

While Brianna is not a city girl, she believes in kind and professional service, and has a natural inclination to take care of the people she happens to cross paths with—including every guest.

We can’t forget to mention our lovely base of regular customers that have repeatedly asked us when “the restaurant” is coming——it’s finally here, and we are so excited to share it!

We want Oishii to have the friendly, classy feel of a traditional Japanese neighborhood sushi bar——but of course, we will need everyone’s help to do that! We will see you there!
